The week I focused on organizing my research and working on my blog outline. My goal is to have a detailed outline completed by next Tuesday. This week I also attended three informative meetings. On Tuesday I attended a lecture on U.S. Copyright law. Copyright law is an interest of mine, and I am always happy to learn more on the subject. On Thursday I attended a lecture on navigating Congress.gov. I was already familiar with Congress.gov as I reviewed their glossary of legislative terms to prep for this internship. Despite my prior use, I still learned new things about the website. Congress.gov really is a great resource, especially for current legislation. For my subject I primarily use public archives with a greater focus on older material however Congress.gov has still been helpful. Today my supervisor held a meeting where she recalled her own career path and answered questions. Everyone I have met at the Library of Congress has been incredibly kind and instructive. I have gained perspective and skills from Library staff, and I am looking forward to learning more over the next six weeks.
